Tickover, Britain's favourite Ford Capri Specialist was started in 1991, by brothers Clive Tick and Angus Tick. The love of Ford Capris dates before then to 1974 when our father owned a brand new MK1. Clive, aged 9 then, vowed to own a MK1 3000GXL as his first car, and starting owning and modifying 3000GXL Capris from 18 years onwards. This instilled similar enthusiasm in younger Angus when the time came. A wealth of experience developed, eventually resulting in the setting up of  Tickover.

Tickover started as a specialist breaker of Capris, selling second-hand parts. However, demand to have those parts fitted was strong so the old workshop premises in Bexleyheath was moved into. This workshop has always carried out every mechanical repair possible to the Capri, including routine preventative servicing. The nature of many Capri owners requires that the car be improved over the Ford package. Tickover has strived to provide improved suspension and handling packages, and beefed-up braking systems, as well as essential go-faster goodies and larger engine options. We've fitted many alternative engines, including Ford Cosworth Turbo, Ford Cosworth V6, Ford V8, Zetecs, Twin cams and more. We've also fitted many Rover V8s and even more Chevy V8's right up to 6.3 litre monsters and supercharged versions.

The parts supply, still has a large second-hand contingent, but has been superseded by stock in new parts and new performance parts. We have also become a major mail order supplier throughout the U.K. and also export to many foreign climes. We obviously accept all major credit and debit cards. Tickover stocks and deals with body panels, interior trim, exterior trim, bumpers, lighting, glass etc. We have standard and performance variants of engines and engine components, exhausts, suspension springs and dampers, brake discs, callipers and linings, bushings, steering components and more.

2010 saw the next big change at Tickover, with a move to a much better workshop. More space for us, more space for parts - we now have an upstairs floor, to much better store and organise our ever growing spare parts stocks. Most importantly, we now have ample parking too (wow - remember the hassles at the Bexleyheath site for that !)

2022 saw another big change, as Gus has decided after 30 years that he needs a change of direction from the classic car world. So I've downsized and moved the facility to be a new parts supplier only  for your classic Fords - ESPECIALLY the Capri !  So no more workshop facility or used parts for now.
